The Very Best Learning
can still be Fun (let those endorphins flow)
but also ... Challenging (cue adrenalin)
In my generation... back in the UK... only 2% of schoolkids went on to university.
In my generation... not that long ago... 2/3 of all schoolkids left school at age 16.
But people continued to learn... with enthusiasm... from TV and radio, from clubs and societies, from colleagues and mentors... from across the e-universe.
In 1979, the notoriously tough British quiz show, Mastermind, was won by Distinguished Professor Philip Jenkins of Cambridge & Penn State Universities
In 1980, the deliciously challenging British quiz show, Mastermind, was won by Fred Housego, London cab driver, who left school at 16 with one single 'O' level.

It is, in all senses of the word, fantastic that we can learn so much from so many different sources, that were once at the doorstep of a privileged few.
It is an even greater privilege to learn in the company of other human beings, a teacher, a mentor, a coach, a fellow explorer.

Listening, Watching, Creating, Speaking, Doing
I will happily rip my shirt off and perform 30, 40, even 50 push-ups for you, and I will become stronger. You won't feel a thing.
But you might learn something, if you observe my strategy.
You might learn something that you might use one day, if you actually get around to doing some push-ups, or whatever it is your teacher, your mentor, your fellow explorer is encouraging you to do.
But you will only become stronger, truly stronger, if you do those push-ups yourself, right here, right now.
You will become stronger if you push yourself beyond the first 10, 20, 30 or even 50, and you do it regularly, and you are accountable to someone who will continue to challenge you.
That's where a teacher comes in handy, or a mentor, or a coach, or a trainer, or a fellow explorer.
You know that, I know that, we all know that!
"Yes, we CAN!" is great... "Yes, we DO!" is worth so much more.
